About Our Pastor
Pastor James Martin is a native of West Virginia. During his earlier years there, he had several vocations. This included owning a men’s clothing store, city police officer, high school teacher, adjunct college professor, and pastor of two churches. He became the Senior Pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in November 1987. The congregation has multiplied and has become diversified in ethnicity, age, culture, and social class.
Pastor Martin earned a BS in Business Administration and a BS in Criminal Justice Administration, a Master of Science degree in Vocational Technical along with two seminary degrees.
Pastor Martin has been an adjunct faculty teacher on the college, Bible College and seminary levels. He has traveled to various places in the United States and overseas teaching and ministering God’s love to others. His sermons are broadcast daily on KPDQ (FM and AM), as well as on the church website in audio and video.
Pastor Martin has dedicated his ministry to reach unbelievers with the gospel of Jesus Christ, teach people to become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ through discipleship, and to help people build healthy and healed families based on biblical values and principles. He has strategically designed his ministry to teach people through modeling, sermons, seminars, classes, radio, and an extensive tape ministry.
He has led family conferences, men’s conferences, healthy church and leadership seminars, as well as financial freedom seminars which help people practice sound money management using biblical principles.
Pastor Martin’s wife, Lynetta, is a conference speaker and serves with him on the church staff as Director of Women’s Ministries. She is also member of the church’s counseling ministry. She often teams up with her husband to lead family classes and conferences. The Martins have three daughters, Tiffany, Tara, and Ashley.
